Phu Quoc is Vietnam’s largest island and its most developed island golf destination. Two courses now operate here, offering a combined 45 holes in settings that move from primeval forest to tropical coastline. That is enough golf for a three or four day stay, and when you factor in the island’s beaches, national park, night market, and seafood scene, you have a trip format that works for dedicated golfers and beach holiday travelers alike.
The island sits in the Gulf of Thailand off Vietnam’s southwestern coast. Phu Quoc International Airport handles domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City (about one hour), Hanoi, and Da Nang, as well as a growing number of international connections. The northern part of the island, where both golf courses are located, falls within or adjacent to the Phu Quoc National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. That gives the golf here a natural setting that most mainland courses cannot replicate: you are playing through forest, not around the edges of a housing development.
Phu Quoc suits golfers who want an island golf and beach holiday, couples and families where golf is one activity among several, and international travelers looking for a self-contained tropical destination with direct flights and resort infrastructure already in place.
Best golf courses in Phu Quoc
Two facilities give you enough variety for a multi-day stay, with one forest-based resort course and one coastal links design.
1. Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc
According to GolfLux course information, Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc is a 27-hole facility designed by IMG, located at Bai Dai within the Vinpearl resort complex. Each set of nine holes has its own character with different landscapes and hazards. The course covers approximately 1,000 hectares, uses Paspalum grass throughout, and is about 26 kilometres from Phu Quoc International Airport.
The course is carved through tropical forest, with fairways that wind between trees and around streams and reservoirs. The three nines present different challenges, which gives golfers replay value across multiple rounds. The Vinpearl resort complex includes 5-star hotels, villas, a 3.5-kilometre private beach, the largest swimming pool on the island, and a safari park, which makes it a self-contained holiday destination. Green fees typically range from $125 to $150 for 18 holes including caddie and shared cart.
Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc suits golfers who want a resort stay-and-play format on an island, families who need resort amenities beyond golf, and players who enjoy forest golf with natural water hazards.
2. Eschuri Vung Bau Golf Resort
According to GolfLux course information, Eschuri Vung Bau Golf Resort is an 18-hole par 72 course located at the Vung Bau Eco-tourism Area on the northwestern side of Phu Quoc, between Ong Lang Beach and Bai Dai Beach, about 20 kilometres from Duong Dong town. The course was designed by IMG and invested in by Sun Group. It is described as a links-style layout.
The defining feature of Eschuri is its “forest to sea” design. The first nine holes run through cool green forest, and by the 9th hole you are looking over the beach. The 14th hole offers views of the ocean sunset. The clubhouse draws design inspiration from Hue palace architecture, and facilities include restaurants, a CoCo branded dining outlet, 5-star lockers, saunas, and massage facilities. Green fees are around $120 per 18-hole round including caddie and cart.
Eschuri suits golfers who want a coastal links experience on an island, players who appreciate the forest-to-beach progression across 18 holes, and travelers staying in the Ong Lang or Vung Bau beach area rather than at Vinpearl.
Which course is better?
If you want the bigger facility with 27 holes and a full resort complex, Vinpearl is the more complete package. If you want a single 18-hole round with a distinctive forest-to-sea journey and links character, Eschuri is the more focused golf experience. For a multi-day Phu Quoc golf trip, playing both gives you genuine contrast: forest resort golf at Vinpearl one day, coastal links at Eschuri the next.
Best time to play golf in Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc has a tropical island climate with a clear dry season and a pronounced wet season.
November to April. The dry season and the best window for golf. Sunny, low humidity, and comfortable temperatures. This is also Phu Quoc’s peak tourism season, so resort and tee time availability should be booked in advance. The beaches are at their best, and outdoor activities like snorkelling and diving benefit from calm seas and good visibility.
May to October. The rainy season. Rain typically arrives in short afternoon or evening bursts, leaving mornings clear for golf. Both courses are maintained to handle tropical weather, so conditions remain playable. Green fees may be lower, and the island is quieter. Golfers who can schedule morning rounds will find the wet season still very workable.
Year-round note. Phu Quoc’s island position means it is warm year-round, with temperatures generally between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius. Even during the wet season, full-day washouts are uncommon.
Phu Quoc golf holidays and package tours
Phu Quoc works well as a three to five day golf and beach programme. The island’s resort infrastructure is well developed, with Vinpearl dominating the northern end and independent resorts and boutique hotels spread along the western coast.
A typical Phu Quoc golf package includes resort accommodation at Vinpearl or a beachfront hotel, airport transfers, tee times at one or both courses, caddie and cart, and usually one non-golf excursion such as snorkelling, a national park visit, or a night market evening.

Phu Quoc is one of the best Vietnam golf destinations for non-golfing companions. The island has long beaches on both the western and eastern coasts, snorkelling and diving at An Thoi Islands in the south, Phu Quoc National Park for trekking, the Duong Dong night market for street food and seafood, pepper plantations, fish sauce factories, and a cable car to Hon Thom island. There is no shortage of things to do while the golfer plays 18 or 27 holes.
Golf with island and beach travel in Phu Quoc
This is what makes Phu Quoc a genuinely different golf destination from anything on the Vietnamese mainland. You are on a tropical island with UNESCO-recognised biodiversity, playing through primeval forest and along beaches that are still relatively undeveloped compared to the mainland coast. The national park covers roughly half the island and is home to some of the last large areas of primary forest in southern Vietnam.
Sao Beach on the southeastern coast is one of the most photographed beaches in Vietnam, with fine white sand and shallow turquoise water. Ong Lang Beach, closer to the golf courses, is quieter and popular with boutique hotel guests. The An Thoi Islands in the south offer snorkelling and diving excursions with good coral visibility, particularly during the dry season.
The Duong Dong night market is Phu Quoc’s social centre in the evening, with grilled seafood stalls, tropical fruit shakes, and a local atmosphere that feels more authentic than the resort areas. Phu Quoc is also Vietnam’s main pepper-producing island, and plantation tours offer a short but interesting non-golf activity.
Book tee times in Phu Quoc
Booking tee times on Phu Quoc is best handled alongside resort accommodation, especially for Vinpearl Golf, which integrates most naturally with the Vinpearl resort complex. Eschuri welcomes non-members and visiting golfers, but advance booking is recommended, particularly during the dry season from November to April.
When booking, confirm:
- Which course you want to play (or both)
- Which 18-hole combination at Vinpearl if playing 27 holes across multiple days
- Your ideal dates and tee times
- Whether you need club rental (available at both courses)
- Cart and caddie arrangements
- Airport transfers
- Whether you are staying at Vinpearl, in the Ong Lang area, or in Duong Dong town
- Snorkelling or national park excursion scheduling
One practical note: Phu Quoc is a small enough island that transfers between the two courses and the main town are short, generally 20 to 30 minutes. Morning tee times are preferable year-round, but especially during the wet season when afternoon rain is most likely. If you are playing Vinpearl and staying at their resort, the course is practically on your doorstep, which means you can walk from breakfast to the first tee without a car transfer. That kind of convenience is hard to beat for a golf holiday.
