KwaZulu Natal is genuinely playable year-round given its warm Indian Ocean climate, but April through September is the most consistent for golf. The dry South African winter months of June, July, and August are particularly good, with lower humidity, clear skies, and comfortable temperatures of 15°C to 24°C on the coast. The wet summer season from November through March brings warm and humid conditions, with January and February the heaviest rain months. Durban can experience significant rainfall during these months that can affect course conditions.

King Shaka International Airport north of Durban has direct domestic flights from Johannesburg (approximately 1.5 hours) and Cape Town (approximately 2 hours). Several international airlines also serve Durban directly. Durban Country Club is about 30 minutes from the airport in the Berea Ridge suburb. The province has more concentrated natural attractions than any other in South Africa. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, about 3 hours north of Durban, is the oldest proclaimed nature reserve in Africa and has significant populations of both white and black rhino alongside the other Big Five. iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site further north, has hippos, crocodiles, leatherback turtles nesting on the beaches, and a lake system that supports the highest concentration of bird species in South Africa.
