Abu Dhabi Golf Courses: Book Tee Times & Explore the UAE Capital's Best Golf in 2026/2027

Golf Course Map

Abu Dhabi has a smaller golf scene than Dubai but a stronger claim to course quality per venue, and it has the tournament credentials to support that argument.

Yas Links Abu Dhabi is the centrepiece. Designed by Kyle Phillips, it’s the only true links course in the Arabian Gulf, with turf running down to the water’s edge, fescue-style rough, and exposure to wind that makes club selection genuinely unpredictable in ways that desert parkland courses never are. The course has hosted the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on the DP World Tour and plays to a standard that serious golfers travel specifically for. Night golf under floodlights is available at Yas Links, which extends the playing window during the hotter shoulder months.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the city’s established private club, has hosted the Abu Dhabi Championship multiple times and maintains a parkland layout of genuine championship quality with the iconic falcon-shaped clubhouse visible from across the course. Saadiyat Beach Golf Club on Saadiyat Island takes a different approach, with a Gary Player design that uses the island’s coastal character and wildlife conservation mandate to create a course where flamingos and other birds are regular spectators on the fairways.

Green fees across Abu Dhabi’s courses sit at a premium level, consistent with the UAE’s tourism positioning, and the October to April season gives a reliable and comfortable window for visiting golfers.

Abu Dhabi Golf Guide: Where to Play, When to Go, and How to Plan an Abu Dhabi Golf Holiday

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and a more serious golf destination than its lower profile relative to Dubai would suggest. Five courses are listed in the GolfLux database, and three carry tournament credentials that few cities anywhere can match. Yas Links Abu Dhabi is described by the club as the only true links golf course in the Middle East, measuring 7,425 yards with a slope of 143 and hosting the European Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Abu Dhabi Golf Club hosts the PGA Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, a 27-hole layout at 7,600 yards with a slope of 141. Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is a Gary Player design at 7,784 yards and slope 138 on Saadiyat Island facing the Arabian Sea. Having an active PGA Tour and European Tour host venue in the same emirate makes Abu Dhabi’s golf credentials stronger than most visitors realize before they arrive.

The non-golf case for Abu Dhabi is built around the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island adjacent to the golf club, the Yas Island entertainment and motorsport complex, and a city that runs at a noticeably more relaxed pace than Dubai despite being 45 minutes down the highway.

Abu Dhabi suits golfers who want to play both PGA Tour and European Tour host venues on a single trip, visitors combining Abu Dhabi with Dubai into a UAE golf circuit, and anyone who wants tournament-credential courses with somewhat more accessible tee times than their equivalents in Dubai.

Best golf courses in Abu Dhabi

Five courses serve the emirate. Three form the visiting program.

  1. Yas Links Abu Dhabi

Yas Links Abu Dhabi is an 18-hole, par 72 layout measuring 7,425 yards with a slope of 143, located on the western shores of Yas Island a short drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport according to the club. The links-style design features undulating fairways, pot bunkers, and wind-influenced play, and the slope of 143 reflects the genuine difficulty that links exposure creates. The European Tour HSBC Championship hosting gives it a live professional tournament credential. The Yas Island location puts golfers within the same complex as the Formula 1 circuit, Ferrari World, and Yas Waterworld, giving non-golfing partners a full independent program without leaving the island.

  1. Abu Dhabi Golf Club

Abu Dhabi Golf Club is a 27-hole, par 72 layout measuring 7,600 yards with a slope of 141, in Khalifa City, described as home to the PGA Tour Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship according to the club. The desert oasis design with water features and palm groves within a surrounding desert landscape gives it the visual character most associated with Gulf golf. The 27-hole format allows different nine combinations across two playing days. At slope 141 and 7,600 yards from the tips it is a demanding test, though multiple tee options keep it accessible for mid-handicap visitors.

  1. Saadiyat Beach Golf Club

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 layout measuring 7,784 yards with a slope of 138, designed by Gary Player, on Saadiyat Island according to the club. At 7,784 yards it is the longest course in the listing and one of the longer Player designs in the region. The Saadiyat coastline gives several holes views of the Arabian Sea, and Hawksbill sea turtles nest on the beach adjacent to the course. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is on the same island cultural district, making Saadiyat the most complete combined golf and heritage stop in the UAE.

  1. Al Ghazal Golf Club

Al Ghazal Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 71 layout measuring 6,711 yards, close to Abu Dhabi International Airport according to the club. The airport proximity makes it the most practical round for golfers with an early departure or late arrival who want 18 holes without traveling into the city.

Which course is better?

Yas Links is the first choice for links character and European Tour heritage. Abu Dhabi Golf Club is the PGA Tour venue with the most complete 27-hole facility. Saadiyat Beach delivers the longest test with Gary Player design and the most interesting cultural context. Most three to four day Abu Dhabi programs pair Yas Links and Abu Dhabi Golf Club as the two primary rounds, with Saadiyat Beach as a third day option.

Best time to play golf in Abu Dhabi

October to April is the primary golf window. The UAE’s Department of Culture and Tourism notes this as the main visitor season, with December through February the most comfortable for outdoor activity at 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. The PGA Tour Abu Dhabi event typically takes place in January and the European Tour event at Yas Links falls in the same window, so golfers visiting during tournament weeks should book well in advance.

May to September is not recommended. Temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius regularly. Night golf at Al Ghazal Golf Club is available for visitors in shoulder months who want to avoid the daytime heat.

Abu Dhabi golf holidays and package tours

Abu Dhabi suits three to six day standalone programs or as the second leg of a Dubai and Abu Dhabi UAE circuit. The drive from Dubai’s main hotel areas takes about 45 minutes to an hour on Sheikh Zayed Road, making a combined program without additional flights practical. Abu Dhabi International Airport has direct connections from most major Asian, European, and African hubs.

Most Abu Dhabi golf packages cover accommodation on Yas Island or in the city center, private transfers to the three main courses, and at least one non-golf activity such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, or a desert safari toward Al Ain.

Practical package formats:

3 days Abu Dhabi stay-and-play with two rounds at Yas Links and Abu Dhabi Golf Club and a city heritage afternoon

4 days Abu Dhabi golf package with three rounds across all main courses and a Saadiyat Island cultural afternoon

6 days Abu Dhabi golf package with five rounds across the full circuit from USD 945 per person

8 days Abu Dhabi golf package extending to a Dubai combination from USD 1,040 per person

Saadiyat Island covers both the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the beach in one location. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in central Abu Dhabi is the most visited heritage site in the UAE according to the Department of Culture and Tourism, open to non-Muslim visitors with dress code enforcement at the entrance. Browse Abu Dhabi golf packages or create a custom UAE itinerary combining Abu Dhabi with Dubai.

Golf with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Yas Island

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque covers 22,412 square meters with 82 domes and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet in the main prayer hall according to the UAE’s Department of Culture and Tourism. Visitor entry is available in the mornings and late afternoons outside prayer times, with photography permitted. The architecture draws on Moorish, Ottoman, and Mughal influences and gives the visit real substance beyond its scale.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in 2017, is recognized by Abu Dhabi’s tourism authority as a flagship cultural institution presenting art from across world civilizations. It is within 10 minutes of Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, which makes a morning round and afternoon museum visit a practical same-day program.

Al Ain, about 160 kilometers east near the Oman border, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism for its ancient falaj irrigation system and the Al Ain Oasis with its date palm plantations. The Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club offers a 27-hole layout at 6,612 yards for golfers who make the drive east.

Book tee times in Abu Dhabi

Yas Links and Abu Dhabi Golf Club fill fastest during tournament weeks and throughout December to February peak season. Booking two to three weeks ahead for peak winter weekend slots is sensible at both venues. Saadiyat Beach and Al Ghazal are accessible with a week’s advance booking outside of peak periods.

When organizing an Abu Dhabi program, confirm Yas Links and Abu Dhabi Golf Club as priority bookings for any peak season dates, accommodation on Yas Island or city center depending on the course program, and how the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Louvre Abu Dhabi visits align with the golf mornings. Frequently asked questions about golf in Abu Dhabi

October through April is the ideal window, with November through February the most comfortable months. Temperatures during this period range from 18°C to 28°C with almost no rainfall, making full-day golf manageable and enjoyable. March and April are progressively warmer but still good for morning rounds. May and June see rising temperatures toward 40°C, and July through September is extremely hot with high humidity, making outdoor golf inadvisable during the day. Yas Links offers floodlit evening golf during the shoulder and summer months, which provides a way to play on arrival or departure evenings when daytime rounds aren’t practical.

Abu Dhabi International Airport is about 30 kilometres from the city centre. Yas Island, home to Yas Links, is approximately 20 minutes from the airport and is well signposted from the main road. Saadiyat Island and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club are about 30 to 40 minutes from the airport. Abu Dhabi Golf Club is in the Al Mushrif area, roughly 25 minutes from the airport. GolfLux can arrange private transfers from the airport to your course and hotel.

Abu Dhabi has two cultural attractions that rank among the best in the region. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, completed in 2007, is one of the largest mosques in the world and one of the few open to non-Muslim visitors. The architecture and the white marble exterior are genuinely extraordinary. Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, designed by Jean Nouvel with a dome that creates a rain of light effect, has a permanent collection spanning human civilisation across cultures and centuries that’s more ambitious than most visitors expect from a relatively new museum. The Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit takes place in late November, and combining the race with golf at Yas Links in the same trip is a well-established itinerary for motorsport-interested golfers.
