The Dye Course at Guangzhou Foison Golf Club in Guangdong, is a renowned 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Cynthia Dye McGarey of the renowned Dye Designs Group. Opened in 2012, the course embodies the Dye family’s spirit of combining natural landscapes with strategic course design. The Dye Course has also hosted prestigious events, including the 2019 PGA Tour Series-China Tournament, demonstrating its status as a tournament-ready venue.
The Dye Course is characterized by its harmonious integration with the natural terrain, offering many holes that challenge the player’s strategic thinking. The front nine features holes that run alongside a lake but have fairly narrow greens, highlighted by the short 7th hole that crosses a canyon, requiring precise placing. while the back nine holes are elevated, offering dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views. This is certainly the designer’s most impressive work in China.
There are some exposed cliffs that add interest to the holes, which are generally wider and more strategically sound than those to the front. Played over a wall of crushed rock and onto a ledge below a hill, the short par-three 17th is a clear highlight, along with the pinnacle par-four 12th and lakeside par-five 10th.
