The Haworth Course at Guangzhou Foison Golf Club in China is a private 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by renowned architect Neil Haworth in collaboration with landscape designer Jay Savastano and landscape architect Feng Shaolong. Opened in 2010, the course plays 7,221 yards and is renowned for its strategic layout that combines lakes, hills and plains, providing a challenging yet harmonious golfing experience. The course has also hosted major tournaments such as the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and the 2016 PGA Tour China Finals. The greens are shaped like potato chips, which seem to be variable.
Moreover, they are moderate in size and the fairways are of different sizes, requiring strategic shots. Notable holes include the par-5 dogleg 3rd hole, which tests the golfer’s strength and courage, and the 17th hole, which is considered the designer’s signature hole. It will certainly be a great challenge for golfers who use short irons and putts, as well as technical consistency and accuracy.
