If you’re visiting Vietnam’s capital and packing your clubs, finding a place to play golf in Hanoi usually means committing to a long, bumpy ride into the countryside. Traffic here is no joke, and a morning tee time often turns into an all-day expedition. But if you want to play golf as quickly as possible in Hanoi, there’s one major exception sitting right across the Red River: Long Bien Golf Course.

It’s so close to the city center that it almost feels like a cheat code. Honestly, the idea of playing golf in downtown Hanoi sounds ridiculous until you realize this 27-hole layout is just a short cab ride from the Old Quarter. You don’t have to burn half your vacation sitting in the back of a Grab car.

And it’s not just a convenient, hastily thrown-together track. Long Bien Golf Course is a legitimately premium Hanoi Golf Course. William Brett Mogg from Nelson & Haworth designed it, bringing decades of international experience, and it shows. The fairways stay incredibly lush, and the layout uses the flat terrain nicely. There’s plenty of water and bunkering to make you think about your approach shots, but it won’t absolutely punish you if you’re having an off day.

Walk into the clubhouse and you’ll immediately notice the international crowd. Out of their 1,000 or so members, more than 60% fly in from places like South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Europe. It regularly pops up in rankings for the best courses in Vietnam.

So, instead of a two-hour commute dodging motorbikes, you just cross the Long Bien bridge. It’s easily the smartest option if you need to fit a high-quality round into a tight schedule without letting the transit ruin your day.
