South Africa is massive, so planning a golf trip there can easily become overwhelming. A 12-day Cape Triangle itinerary is one of the best ways to narrow things down. Instead of spending half your vacation driving between provinces, you get to focus on three distinct parts of the Western Cape.

You spend the first four days based at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. It’s touristy, sure, but the convenience is hard to beat. You have easy access to two excellent local courses, and staying central takes the hassle out of getting to Table Mountain when you aren’t on the fairway.

After Cape Town, you head inland to Stellenbosch. Most people know the Winelands for the wine, but the golf at De Zalze and Erinvale is incredibly good. There’s something about playing a tough layout in a valley surrounded by vineyards that just works, even if your short game is acting up that day.

You finish up in Hermanus, a relaxed coastal town anchored by the Arabella Golf Course. If you manage to book your trip between June and December, it’s whale season. Standing on the shoreline watching them breach is a pretty incredible way to decompress after a week of intense golf. It breaks up the trip nicely and gives you a taste of South African wildlife without actually needing to fly out to a game reserve.

1 Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town

Upon your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, our driver will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel.

You can choose to stay at The Commodore Hotel (4-star) or The Table Bay Hotel (5-star).

Check in at the hotel and enjoy your free time.

2 Day 2: Play at Clovelly Country Club

Enjoy the first rounds of your 12 days golf in South Africa with an 18-hole game at the Clovelly Country Club.

This course is accentuated by rolling fairways, natural dunes, water hazards, and abundant trees lining the fairways.

This is a tight par 72 layout, a real challenge if you are new to this sport.

Return to the hotel after the game.

3 Day 3: Explore Robben Island

You will spend this day exploring Robben Island – a UNESCO World Heritage Site of South Africa.

You can tour the island by boat, check out the museum dedicated to Nelson Mandela’s life, and visit the prison where he was held.

From the island, you can also admire a breathtaking view of Cape Town’s skyline and Table Mountain.

End of the sightseeing day and return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

4 Day 4: Play at Westlake Golf Club
