18 Days Vietnam Golf Holiday with Culture & Coastline tour

A full day at leisure. Breakfast is served from 6.30am. Several optional activities are available if you want to use the day: a full-day Hanoi highlights tour covering the Mausoleum, Temple of Literature, and Old Quarter with lunch; a half-day pottery session at Bat Trang Ceramic Village; an Old Quarter street food evening with banh cuon, BBQ, and egg coffee; a Vespa food tour through the city; or a half-day Jeep tour. None are mandatory. The day is yours to recover, explore, or simply settle in.

After breakfast, your driver takes you two hours north of Hanoi to Thanh Lanh Valley Golf & Resort, set at 1,000 metres above sea level in the Tam Dao Mountains. Nick Faldo designed the layout to work with the natural terrain across lakeside, hillside, parkland, and links-influenced holes. The signature holes sit on a peninsula extending into Thanh Lanh Lake, and the course stretches over 7,000 yards from the tips with five tee boxes to suit all levels. Average temperatures here stay between 18 and 25 degrees year-round. After your round, your driver returns you to Hanoi for the night.

Breakfast at the hotel, then your driver takes you east to Quang Ninh Province, around two hours from Hanoi. Silk Path Dong Trieu is a second Nick Faldo design, built across rolling terrain with scenic elevation changes and strategic bunkering throughout. Holes 6, 7, 13, and 15 are the course’s signature holes, each offering a distinct challenge. After golf, a one-hour drive brings you to Ha Long Bay for the overnight stay.

No golf today. Your driver takes you to Tuan Chau Marina for a 7 to 8-hour luxury day cruise through Ha Long Bay. The route covers limestone karst formations, Sung Sot Cave, swimming at Titop Island, kayaking through quieter channels, and a seafood lunch on board. It is a full day on the water, and a necessary reset before the central Vietnam legs of the trip.

After breakfast, transfer to FLC Ha Long Bay Golf Club for your third round of the trip. The Par 71 course plays to 6,092 yards from the tips with Paspalum turf that holds condition year-round. Bay views are visible from most fairways, with traditional sailing boats moving across the water as you play. The layout prioritises playability alongside scenery, though it still tests course management on several holes. After golf, your driver returns you to the Ha Long hotel for a final night before the journey south.

After breakfast, your driver takes you 25 minutes from Da Nang city to Ba Na Hills Golf Club at the foothills of the Ba Na Hills range. Luke Donald designed the course and IMG manages it. It has won Vietnam’s Best Golf Course six consecutive years and ranked fifth in Asia in 2021. The course sits in a cooler microclimate than the coast, with fairways that run through forest and open terrain across an 18-hole layout that has enough variety to stay interesting from the first hole to the last. After golf, transfer back to the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Legend Da Nang Golf Resort, the only course in Da Nang designed by both Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman on a single 350-hectare site. The Nicklaus layout covers 200 hectares, the Norman course 150 hectares, and each reflects its designer’s approach to the land. Playing either gives you a contrast that most golfers simply do not get within a single destination. After your round, transfer back to the hotel.

After breakfast, transfer to Dalat Palace Golf Club, one of Vietnam’s oldest courses, established in the 1920s. The layout runs through Da Lat’s pine forests with views of Xuan Huong Lake from multiple holes and a classic, tree-lined character that plays differently from anything else on this itinerary. The course is measured and shaded, cooler than the coastal layouts, and appeals to golfers who appreciate traditional design. After your round, transfer back to the hotel.

The climate is cool and consistent at this elevation year-round. It plays as a more open round than Dalat Palace, with the natural valley terrain keeping the course management engaging. After golf, the afternoon is free for a final evening in Da Lat.

After breakfast, your driver takes you five kilometres from the city centre to Tan Son Nhat Golf Club. The 36-hole facility covers 156 hectares beside the airport and was designed by Nelson & Haworth. Significant earthwork, water hazards on most holes, large bunkers, and Paspalum turf throughout give the course a different texture from the highland and coastal layouts that came before it. After your round, transfer back to the hotel for a final night in Ho Chi Minh City.

Breakfast at the hotel, then a two-hour drive southeast along the coast to Ho Tram. The Grand Ho Tram Strip is a full beachfront resort complex with restaurants, spa facilities, and a long private beach. The afternoon and evening are yours: the beach is the obvious choice after two weeks of golf, and the pace at Ho Tram is considerably quieter than anything you have encountered since leaving Ha Long. No tee time until tomorrow.

After breakfast, transfer to The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip for your ninth and final round of the trip. Greg Norman designed the course across natural coastal dunes with elevation changes of up to 40 metres and wind that shifts direction throughout the day. It plays as a genuine links: firm, exposed, and demanding in a way that flat parkland courses are not. The course took ten years from first investment to completion, and the result shows. It is the right course to finish on. After golf, return to the resort.
